The changeover to the NOC 2021 system
On November 16, 2022, Canada’s immigration department will switch to the 2021 National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. The new TEER system will modify the requirements for participation in various Canadian immigration services, most notably Express Entry.
Currently, in order to qualify for Express Entry, your job experience must be described using one of the NOC skill classes 0, A, or B, which correspond to the NOC 2016. After the modification, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will use the new Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) system to determine a candidate’s eligibility for work experience.
Updated Express Entry eligibility requirements for NOC 2021
All three Express Entry programs’ requirements will alter to reflect the NOC 2021 structure (Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program). From NOC 2021, TEER Categories will take the role of Skill Type and Skill Levels from NOC 2016.

Instructions for candidates for Express Entry
On the IRCC website, instructions are provided for candidates for Express Entry who are currently in the pool and those who have not yet applied.
If you have already submitted your profile but have not yet received an invitation to apply, you must update your profile on or after November 16, 2022. (ITA). First, search the NOC 2021 list on the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) website to make this modification. After that, update your profile with your TEER Category and five-digit occupation code.
If you want to submit your Express Entry profile on or after November 16, 2022, you must discover the code for your occupation on the NOC 2021 list and provide it when establishing your profile. If you obtained ITA before November 16, 2022, it is not required to figure out which new code matches the one you already have.
Comprehensive ranking system (CRS)
The points awarded to applicants in the full ranking system will be listed after the Skill Type/Level update chart.
For instance, express entry applicants who would have received 50 points for arranged employment in Skill Type/Level 0, A, or B will still receive 50 points for arranged labor in TEER 0, 1, or 3.
Finally, multiple immigrants will be able to work and settle in Canada as a result of IRCC’s decision to adopt the 2021 version of the National Occupational Classification (NOC), and multiple occupations will now be eligible for Express Entry.
